‘Shootout at Wadala’ is the story of Manya Surve (John Abraham), a college student and how he
turns into a gangster after tasting injustice.
Sounds pretty commonplace right? Yes, it is. This movie is all about slow motion action
sequences and bullets flying in the air. I would say the action sequences are much
better and more believable than those in most Salman Khan movies. John Abraham has improved on his acting skills and does a fine job as Manya. Anil Kapoor, as a resolute policeman, plays his role perfectly.
The best element of the movie is its dialogues. The first
half has a lot of witty (and sometimes, too vulgar) dialogues, which make the
first half the better half of the movie. The movie has a lot of songs sequences
and almost all of them are items numbers. Skin show and bad music is what I
would call it. But it was a treat for our tharki
audience.
The second half is somewhat long drawn and is dull, except
towards the end when the shootout at Wadala actually happens. I won’t reveal how
the shootout is, but I would say it doesn’t quite match the shootout in ‘Shootout
at Lokhandwala’.
Manoj Bajpai and Sonu Sood play their part as gangsters
opposed to Manya brilliantly. The whole team does a good job with the exception
of Tusshar Kapoor. No surprises here! And seems John Abraham has replaced Salman Khan as the 'shirtless man of India'.
I would call it a ‘one-time watch’ and the likeable
dialogues will be the reason for it.
